bus and train timetables are arranged conveniently so that
you can arrive in time for the game and relax in a local
café or bar afterwards before your return journey.
1] Trains: Newtonmore is on
the Edinburgh/Glasgow to Inverness line and has 4 trains
a day stopping in each direction on a Saturday. A southbound
train stops in Newtonmore at 1348, with the north bound
stopping at 1411.
To get to the ground from the station
walk up Station road till the intersection with the B9150
[just over quarter of a mile]. Turn left and walk out of
the village for 600 yards past the Chefs Grill. The Eilan
is on the right hand side and the walk will take you about
15 minutes allowing you to see the start of the game at
1430
2] Buses: Newtonmore is on
the Edinburgh/Glasgow to Inverness route. The southbound
bus stops twice in the village. Ask for the second stop
opposite the Braeriach Hotel where you will arrive at 1323.
The northbound bus arrives at 1414 and the first bus stop
is at the Clan Macpherson museum [unless you are lucky enough
to get dropped off at the ground as you go past].
To get to the ground walk south on
the B9150 past the museum, the petrol station and the Chefs
Grill until you come to the Eilan on the right about half
a mile away. The walk will take about 10 minutes.
By bicycle: The B 9150 is
part of the long distance cycle route and it goes immediately
past the entrance to the Eilan.
By car: Travelling north take
the B9150 signposted Newtonmore half a mile after the Ralia
café. Follow the road round over the lights at the
railway bridge and as you swing right onto the straight
stretch into the village you will see the Eilan on the left
hand side.
Travelling south take the exit to
Kingussie signposted Fort William, Newtonmore, Laggan. Turn
right at the junction to drive straight through Kingussie
for the 3 miles to Newtonmore. Drive right through the village
to where the road splits at the Clan Macpherson museum and
stay on the Perth road. The ground is half a mile on the
right.
There is ample car parking.
