1] Success on the Field It's nice to reflect on success on the field with the 1sts victory over Fort William taking us to the MacTavish Cup Final on 13th June against Kingussie after the disappointment of the penalty shoot out loss to Kyles in the Camanachd Cup. We had high hopes for the under 17s in the junior version after they crushed Kingussie 8-0, but they came unstuck 1-2 against Fort William as did the 2nds 1-3 in a very good Sutherland Cup tie.

2] Improvements at the Eilan A bit like buses….nothing happens for ages and then several things at once. The rather grand bilingual sign [which was originally part of the entrance improvement scheme!] is now in place with the exception of the crossed camans that will be added shortly; following on from Anne's suggestion at the AGM we are now the proud owners of the first scoreboard in shinty which is legible from across the pitch; of most importance the pitch is shortly due to be verti-drilled with fertiliser and about 60 tons of sand.

3] Newtonmore's strongest man Saturday 20th June Thanks to Eddy Harrigan for organising this competition which will run from 2pm till about 5.30 pm at the tennis courts. Apart from tractor pulling, a tyre flip and lifting a large boulder there is a BBQ and the music of David Holt to keep everyone entertained. There will be other activities too which we'll let you know about nearer the time.

4] Williamson 6s Wednesday 24th June is the date from 5pm and due to the expected record entry of about 24 teams we have decided to run 4 pitches. We now need 6-8 volunteers to referee the games and some volunteers to help the PTA with the tea and cakes. The BBQ has been sponsored by BLASTA and as previously intimated Eddy Harrigan has kindly offered to be the chief chef.

5] Fence post painting I have not been knocked down in the stampede of volunteers! With Rob Ritchie's help about 60 of the 166 posts have been completed. The wire brush, paint and brushes are in the shed and you can get access to them at a time of your choosing by speaking to myself or Rob.

6] Marie Curie The race night raised approx £4K and the golf day an extra £670. Glen and David's overall total is now very close to £9K which is remarkable and they are very grateful for all the support they have received.

7] June home fixtures With the MacTavish Cup Final on 13th June at the Bucht Park having a later throw up time for the TV cameras The 2nds home scheduled home game against Skye that day has been postponed. Apart from the Williamson 6's the only other scheduled home fixtures are:
Friday 26th June 2nds v Kingussie 6.30pm
Saturday 27th June 1sts v Fort William [Macaulay Cup] 2.30pm

The 2nds are away to Lochcarron in the Strathdearn on 6th June and the 1sts are away to Glenorchy in the Premier Division.
