TWENTY ELEVEN SEPTEMBER SEVENTEEN
1. Twenty eleven, September seventeen.
Brick Macarthur and the Eilan boys became a famous team.
Up to the Bucht, the Kings they had to play
To win the Scottish Cup at the ending of the day
Chorus:
So we raise our glass to the boys of the Eilan
With our flags and scarves, we’ll shout and sing and roar,
Twenty Five long years we all had been await’n
To see again the Scottish Cup back in Newtonmore
2. The game it started well, 12 seconds they had gone,
A ball from Glen to Danny and the first blood it had drawn,
The crowd then settled down and some they took their seats
Then Stevie scored a screamer and we all were on our feet
3. Just before half time, Kingussie back they came.
A thumping hit from Fraser got them back into the game.
But our nerves were quickly calmed before the whistle blew.
The ball it fell for Danny & the lead again was two.
Chorus
4. As the second half began, the Kings moved Ronald Ross,
Far away from Bandy cos he had been the boss
But goals from Ross and Dallas had Kingussie feeling fine
They thought they were favourites as we entered extra time.
5. The Eilan boys regrouped as extra time began,
The script it had been written for Dan to be the man,
A pass to him from John, from his caman the ball flew
And the Scottish was returning to its home below Creag Dhu.
Chorus
6. When the final whistle blew, up the steps went Captain Scott
All the years of waiting they now could be forgot.
As he held the cup aloft the crowd began to sing
Rise and follow chaerlie to toast a famous win
7. When the trophy it came home, it was late into the night
500 people gathered to view the famous sight
When the morning sun arose high above Creag Dhu
The Scottish Cup was lofted decked in the White and Blue.
Chorus
8. But the season wasn’t done, the Kyles they had to beat
To win again the league title and stay in the top seat,
With seconds left to go the ball hit Kyles net,
And the boys they won a double that we never will forget.
Chorus
