Volunteers Required

If you are able to help with any of the jobs below, please contact Travis
by email Travis Tonkin or phone 670022)

Primary Lunchtime Rota

To ensure Newtonmore continue to produce Shinty stars of the future it is essential that we have a rota of volunteers who could give up 30 minutes of their time from 1245 to 1315 to supervise lunchtime shinty (Tuesdays and Thursdays). Children have to be supervised to be allowed to play at the school pitch during their lunchtime. Children will need to wear a Helmet and shin pads and the volunteer will be required as a minimum to supervise the session, or if confident and able, provide some coaching/guidance. If you are able to help please get in touch with Travis on (670 022). A rota will eventually be published on the web site.

Drivers

Volunteers are required to drive the children to the away shinty fixtures.  Fixtures will be detailed on the web site.  It is hoped that we can use the Badenoch and Strathspey minibus, so if you have a D1 license that would be great!

Strip Washers

After each game it would be great if each of the parents would volunteer to take turns to wash the strips.  Again, let me know if you are able to take a turn and we will make sure the strips are sent home with your kids at the end of the match.

Home Games

To generate some income for the club it is hoped we can sell tea/coffee/biscuits at the youth home games.  Volunteers required to help in the clubhouse

Supporters

The more the merrier to cheer on the boys and girls.

Coaches

If you have a Shinty background or coaching background in a different sport and would like to help, there is always a part to play with the youth players no matter how big or small. The Cammanachd association have a coaching structure in place starting with a foundation qualification followed by a Level 1 (UKCC) training course and a Level 1 (UKCC) assessment. All coaches will have to undertake a Disclosure Scotland check.

Kingussie High School

At Kingussie High School young players from Newtonmore, Kingussie, Laggan and Kincraig put aside their rivalries and play for the same team. This year young players mostly aged 13 combined to win the 9 a side MacBean Cup for the first time in many years beating Lochaber 7 - 5 in a thrilling final. The school are also through to the final of the Macpherson Cup
combined youth shinty team
